The walk between fields
When the games pause, towels come out along the fence and hat brims fill with baseball trading pins. The walk down the row is quick. Each player offers one pin and takes one from the team standing there, which is how baseball pin trading goes on a tournament Saturday. Travel teams headed to a world series tournament pack enough for the whole week, since the swaps run from the first morning through the championship game.
The logo or the team character sits large in the center, and the team name curves beside the year. An event name or an age group can sit with the name and the year, and many baseball team pins add every player’s number around the logo. The metal edge can follow a home plate or a diamond. It can also follow crossed bats or a ball. We usually make baseball trading pins in soft enamel. Color fills the areas between raised metal lines, so the face has a textured feel and holds up through a tournament’s worth of trading.
Add-ons at the trading table
Add-ons are the cool part, the little piece that moves and makes kids stop. A pin with one on it becomes the pin other players ask for at the trading table.
- Spinner: Turns in place so kids can spin it while they look.
- Slider: Rides a track cut into the face of the pin.
- Bobble: Wobbles on a spring each time a player taps the pin.
- Blinker: Flashes a small LED that shows up from across the towel.
- Dangler: Holds a hanging charm that can carry the tournament year.
Glitter and glow-in-the-dark color change the fill. Translucent color over textured metal lets the metal show through, and black metal plating darkens the raised lines.
Sizing up is the biggest upgrade a team can make. Baseball trading pins run from one and a half to three inches. The larger pin stands out on a towel full of pins.
How many pins, and when
For a full season, many teams order dozens of baseball trading pins for each player so the supply lasts through every weekend of trades. One tournament is counted differently. Count the teams in the age group against the players on the roster. Order enough for each player to trade with every team in the group, plus a few extra so a player who joins late has pins too. The same counting works for trading pins at any tournament. A league or a club can order one design for every team.
Production takes 3½-4 weeks from proof approval, often sooner, plus a few days in transit to a United States address, and shipping is free. A pin with moving add-ons needs longer than the standard production window. When the tournament date is close, USA rush trading pins are printed in full color at our own shop in the United States and ship much sooner. They come with fewer shapes and no moving add-ons.

Their
numbers
Give every player their number on the team’s pin. Each kid can find their own number, and that pin feels made for them.
Their
seasons
The age group and the year can sit on the pin with the tournament name. Pins a family keeps then become a record of each season they can look back through.
Title
weekend
A championship weekend calls for its own pin in bold team colors. Other teams see those colors on the towel and line up to trade for it.

The questions below answer what a team parent needs to know about baseball trading pins.
Baseball trading pins are a team’s own pins, made so players can trade them with other teams at tournaments. The design carries the logo and the season, and it may include the age group. During breaks, kids swap one of theirs for one from each club they meet.
Each player needs one baseball trading pin for every other team in the group, plus spares. For one event, build the number from the entered teams and the kids listed to play. Over a summer of weekends, many teams give each player several dozen to carry.
Baseball trading pins run from one and a half inches to three inches. A larger pin is easier to spot on a towel full of pins, so choose closer to three inches when you want the pin found quickly in that row.
Baseball trading pins can have moving add-ons and finish options. A spinner turns, a slider rides a track, a dangler holds a hanging charm that can carry the tournament year, a bobble wobbles on a spring, and a blinker flashes a small LED. Glitter, glow-in-the-dark color, translucent color over textured metal, and black metal plating are the finish options.
Custom baseball trading pins require at least 100 in an order. A team parent can use 100 as the smallest batch, whether the pins are for the season or for one event.
Custom baseball trading pins take 3½-4 weeks from proof approval, often sooner, then a few days in transit to a United States address, with free shipping. Moving add-ons need longer than that production time. A close date can use USA rush trading pins.
