Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation Challenge Coin

Written by All About Pins | Mar 29, 2011 4:00:00 AM

Christopher Reeve was a beloved actor and philanthropist whose legacy continues on through his foundation.  Through the assistance of his wife, Dana, and their children, the man who was best known for his role as Superman was able to overcome a severe spinal cord injury and inspire others up until the day he passed away in 2004.

The Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation has a long history of helping individuals with paralysis.  In fact, before Christopher was injured, the couple was involved with the American Paralysis Association.  It was only a matter of time before the actor lent his name and passion to the organization which ultimately became known as the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation.

Active Living With Paralysis Through Care & Cure

We were recently contacted by the foundation because they wanted to have a custom challenge coin made to hand out to others.  Our products are great for this purpose because they get the message across and bring light to the issues that you are advocating.  They also are a great way to recognize supporters who donate their time and money to the cause.

The coin that we designed for them was for their Military and Veteran Program (MVP).  Not only did it include symbols of patriotism--the American Flag, a yellow ribbon, and the colors red, white, and blue, it also has the foundation's name, mission, website address, and toll-free telephone number.  Recipients of the challenge coin know who to call if they ever need assistance.

Historical Significance of Military Challenge Coins

Since World War I, challenge coins have been a symbol of loyalty, strength, and heroism.  Military units as well as youth groups, academic institutes, sports teams, and businesses of all sizes choose to create challenge coins for awards ceremonies, assemblies, banquets, and conferences.  These memorable keepsakes are great for promoting, marketing, and recognizing exceptional people.

The allure of challenge coins has a lot to do with their custom nature.  As demonstrated by the Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation, coins can be as big and bold as you would like them to be.  You can include a message, a logo or photograph, and information about your group, organization or foundation.  You can select the colors that best complement your design.  The possibilities are endless.
