Custom Challenge Coins made to Commemorate NROL-32 Launch

Sunday November 21, 2010, NROL-32, the world’s largest satellite, was launched from Cape Canaveral, Florida by the United Launch Alliance (ULA).  Dubbed a reconnaissance satellite, its primary mission is to support national defense and further protect America’s safety. Satellite Launch Sparks a Change in Design Perspective With the launch marking yet another great event in U.S. history, All About Coins was honored to create the custom challenge coin used to commemorate it. The challenge coin was created to give as a keepsake token to attendees and those who participated in the launch. Though the event does not require any aid for remembrance, the challenge coin design is sure to help many relive the memory for years to come. On one side of the coin you can see a symbol of America and the number 32 written out in Roman numerals using the pattern and colors of the American flag.  The flip side of the coin displays the Delta 4 rocket, one more timeless U.S symbol and abbreviations of the agencies and organizations that were involved.  Another intriguing aspect of the coin is its shape. People are still surprised to learn that custom challenge coins do not have to resemble an actual coin.  As seen with the NROL-32 commemorative coin, they can be crafted in any shape other than the circle. All About Coins has made these customized mementos not only in triangle shapes, but in rectangle, square and diamond shapes as well.
