When it comes to inspiring creativity and connection, few places do it better than a public library. The Friends of The Salt Lake City Public Library brought that spirit to life by turning their beloved branch mascots into collectible enamel pins that capture the heart of their community.

What started as a fun idea became a creative way to celebrate the people, places, and stories that make their library system special.

A Pin for Every Branch

Each library branch in Salt Lake City has its own character and charm, and now it has its own pin to match. Working with the All About Pins team, the library designed a series of custom cloisonné lapel pins that reflect each neighborhood’s unique personality.

  • Marm Guy – a cheerful jar of marmalade representing the warmth and friendliness of the Marmalade branch.
  • Main Bee – buzzing with energy and curiosity, a perfect fit for the lively Main Library.
  • Foothill Guy – a mountain figure that captures the beauty and adventure of the Foothill community.
  • Sprague Beet – rooted in tradition and growth, representing the Sprague branch.
  • Sweet Gal – bright, fun, and full of charm, inspired by the Sweet branch.
  • Glendale Guy – a sporty, baseball-ready character that brings energy to the Glendale branch.
  • Chapman Ghost – playful and a little mysterious, celebrating the Chapman branch’s creative spirit.
  • Day Riv Guy – a calm, nature-inspired design that reflects the Day-Riverside branch and its connection to the outdoors.

Together, these pins form a colorful, character-driven collection that represents the diversity and creativity of Salt Lake City’s library community.

Designed to Connect and Collect

The library wanted to create something that would bring patrons together while celebrating their shared love for books, learning, and local culture. These character pins quickly became a hit, encouraging visitors to collect all eight and proudly show off their library pride.

The pins were created as part of The Friends of The City Library’s merchandise collection, offering a fun and creative way for supporters to show love for their favorite branch. Each design reflects the unique identity of its location, giving visitors a chance to collect a little piece of the library wherever they go.

Bringing Each Character to Life

The All About Pins design team worked closely with The Friends of The Library to make every mascot stand out. Using cloisonné enamel for bright, lasting color and polished black nickel metal for crisp definition, each pin was carefully produced to match the original artwork. Every detail, from Main Bee’s cheerful smile to Sweet Gal’s pink candy bow, was brought to life with precision and care.

Each pin also features a rubber clutch backing for comfortable wear, making them perfect for jackets, bags, or lanyards.

A Collectible Series with Purpose

This project shows how custom pins can do more than just look great. They can tell a story, strengthen community ties, and support a meaningful cause.

The Friends of The Salt Lake City Public Library turned a creative idea into a full collectible series that unites patrons, celebrates local identity, and helps fund essential programs.

Whether you’re creating pins for fundraising, volunteer appreciation, or public outreach, custom designs are a powerful way to connect people to your mission.
