Offset Printed Pins

Start Your Free Pin Design
A car club keeps the photo from its spring show, the one with every hood open in the afternoon. A family picnic ends with the kids passing around the photo of the dog and asking to wear it. Custom offset printed pins give each of them the whole picture, every shade of it, on a pin. At the next meet, a new member leans in and asks which year that blue car was.

The picture stays whole

An offset printed pin carries the picture across an open metal face, so raised metal lines never divide it into walled areas of color. A photograph can keep its soft shadow and all of the shading the picture already holds. Very fine text can remain readable in the picture, right where the artwork placed it. On enamel pins each color fill is solid, so a design with shading has to be simplified into flat areas of color.

Clubs and event organizers order photo pins from a dog agility trial or a team day, while a car show orders photo pins of a car from the lot. Families order custom photo pins for a reunion, so the people who came can wear a face from the family album. Artists and small brands order offset printed pins of painted work, and awareness groups order them so ribbon artwork can keep its texture and shading in a crowd. A detailed logo with a drop shadow stays intact on an offset printed pin, since the print can hold that shading.

The print on the metal

The artwork is printed in full color on the pin's metal face. No raised metal lines sit between the colors, so there is no limit on the number of colors the image can hold. Photographs, gradients, shading, narrow linework, and fine text all print on that face. The print is only as sharp as the file it starts from. A clear, high-resolution image gives the best pin, and a small or blurry file keeps the limits it already has.

Offset printed or enamel

Soft enamel and cloisonné pins divide each color with raised metal lines. That construction fits a logo or an emblem built from flat, separate areas of color, where the metal itself is part of the drawing. An offset printed pin leaves the image free of those lines, so shading can stay continuous across the face. A blend across the image needs an offset printed pin, since a gradient has no clean place for a metal wall. Silk screen pins also print on the metal, one flat color at a time, which keeps exact brand colors and leaves small text readable. Offset printed pins print the full image, so a photograph can keep the shading it already has.

Cause
imagery

A cause can keep its imagery intact on a pin, such as an awareness ribbon with texture. Supporters wear the mark the campaign already uses.

Worn
photos

Someone who wants a person or a pet on a pin can start from a photograph. Offset printing is how that photo stays whole when they wear it.

Soft
edges

A buyer who needs shading and soft edges can wear the art with those tones intact. They come through on an offset pin, with the look the artist made.

People ask these questions about offset printed pins.

Offset printed pins can hold every color the artwork uses, with no raised line between one color and the next. A photograph’s gradients and shading print in that image, together with narrow linework and fine text.

Yes, a photograph can be the full design on an offset printed pin. The print holds the shading and the soft edges from the camera, so a loved one’s face can stay recognizable.

Soft enamel and cloisonné pins hold each color inside a raised metal line, and the fill in each area is one solid color. An offset printed pin leaves the picture unbroken, so a photograph can show the shading running through it.

A clear, high-resolution file is the image that works best for an offset printed pin. Fine shading stays readable when that file is already sharp, and a small or blurry file shows that same limit on the finished pin. Photographs and painted artwork with gentle color shifts both make a strong match when the file is that sharp.

The minimum order for custom offset printed pins is 100 pins. The same 100-pin minimum applies to every picture, from a photograph to a shaded logo.

Custom offset printed pins take 4 weeks from proof approval, often sooner, plus a few days in transit. Shipping is free to US addresses.
